How to Use Isola Tachyon® 100G Ultra Low Loss Laminate Material Data

The Isola Tachyon® 100G Ultra Low Loss Laminate Material is specifically designed for high-speed digital applications where signal integrity is paramount. This material is characterized by its ultra-low dissipation factor (Df) and stable dielectric constant (Dk) across a wide frequency range, making it an excellent choice for multilayer PCBs used in high-speed digital and RF applications. The consistent Dk and Df values help in maintaining signal integrity, especially in designs where high-frequency performance is critical.

When building a PCB stackup using Tachyon® 100G, consider the following aspects:

  • Layer Configuration: Opt for a symmetrical stackup to minimize warping and maintain the balance of the copper layers. This is crucial for maintaining the mechanical stability of the PCB during high-temperature lead-free soldering processes.
  • Material Thickness: Choose the appropriate material thickness to meet impedance and mechanical requirements. Tachyon® 100G offers various thickness options, which can be selected based on the specific needs of your application.
  • Thermal Management: Given the high thermal performance of Tachyon® 100G, ensure that your design adequately addresses thermal management to maximize the reliability and performance of the final product. This material supports a maximum reflow temperature of 260°C, compatible with lead-free assembly requirements.

Additionally, the material's compatibility with standard FR-4 processes allows for a seamless integration into existing manufacturing workflows, reducing the need for specialized equipment or processes. This compatibility, combined with the material's high thermal reliability and excellent CAF performance, makes Tachyon® 100G a versatile choice for a wide range of high-speed digital and RF applications.
