How to Use ITEQ IT-170GRA1 High Tg/Halogen Free/Mid-Loss Laminate & Prepreg

The ITEQ IT-170GRA1 is a high-performance laminate and prepreg material designed for PCB applications requiring high thermal reliability and halogen-free properties. With a high glass transition temperature (Tg) of 180°C and a decomposition temperature of 380°C, IT-170GRA1 ensures stability and integrity in high-temperature environments. This makes it particularly suitable for applications in the automotive, aerospace, and industrial sectors where high thermal demands are common. Additionally, the material's halogen-free nature supports environmentally friendly and safer PCB manufacturing processes.

When designing a PCB stackup using ITEQ IT-170GRA1, consider the following properties:

  • Low dielectric constant (Dk) of less than 3.9 at 10 GHz and low dissipation factor (Df) of less than 0.010 at 10 GHz, which are critical for maintaining signal integrity in high-speed applications.
  • Excellent thermal and CAF (Conductive Anodic Filament) resistance, enhancing the PCB's durability and reliability under thermal stress.
  • Compatibility with standard high Tg FR-4 processes, allowing for seamless integration into existing manufacturing setups without the need for additional specialized equipment or processes.

For practical implementation, ensure that the PCB layout optimizes the material's properties. Use standard profile copper foils to achieve strong peel strength, which is crucial for mechanical stability and integrity. The material's low moisture absorption (<0.10%) minimizes the risk of performance degradation in humid environments. Given its high Tg and excellent thermal properties, IT-170GRA1 is also well-suited for lead-free soldering processes, which typically require higher temperatures.
